Five Presidential Prints: Monroe, etc.

Presidents Monroe, Roosevelt, Polk, Tyler, Van Buren. c. 1861-1900s, Five Presidential Prints, by Johnson, Fry & Co., and others, Fine-Very Fine.. Prints range in sizes from 9.5” x 6” to 11.25” x 8.5”. The Tyler and Monroe prints are from original paintings by Chappel and were printed by Johnson, Fry & Co., Publishers. The Polk print was copyrighted by James D. Richardson in 1899. Van Buren’s print includes a small image beneath his portrait of the “Destruction of the Caroline”, done by H. Inman and T.W. Hunt. Finally, Theodore Roosevelt’s print is actually a copy of a photograph. Some of the prints have age toning as well as edge-chipping. Lot sold “as is.” (5 prints).
