Handmade “Folk Art” President George Washington Doll. c. 1880-1920s, Early American Handmade “Folk Art” Style Doll, Depicting President George Washington, Signed T.D., Choice Very Fine.. This is an original, totally Handmade Doll of felt, lace and silk of a standing George Washington in his Presidential civilian clothes. It stands about 9.5” tall and is Signed on the rear pink coattails in handwritten brown ink the initials, “T. D.” Some scattered minor discoloration, extra glue spots and minor fabric loss mostly on Washington’s chin and left side of his face. Various materials are used in the composition of this historical Doll including wool felt, cotton lace, metal buttons, Hand-coloring on face, silk socks for the stockings, etc. A very rare Doll of an impressive original appearing design which would fit into any George Washington, Political, American Folk Art and/or Historical collection.
